Breeding Australian crayfish is an attractive business both in terms of prospects and the fact that it can be started with small initial investments.

The main countries that grow Australian crayfish in commercial volumes are China, Indonesia, Israel, Spain and the USA. Considering its physiological properties, plasticity in nutrition and unpretentiousness to living conditions, the breeding of this species of crayfish can become a profitable business in the conditions of Ukraine.
Unlike ordinary crayfish, Australian crayfish have a presentable appearance and tastier meat. In addition, they have 30% more meat plots. It has an unusual blue color and red claws (in males), which is why it got its name. Males are significantly larger than females - by about 30%. Adult crayfish can weigh 500 or even 700 grams, be up to 40 cm long. In 6 months, the mass of the Australian red claw crayfish reaches 50-60 grams, while the river crayfish can gain such a mass only in the third year of life. Spawning of these crayfish occurs up to 3 times a year, the female lays from 300 to 1000 eggs, of which approximately 60% survive.
Analysts say that today's crayfish market in Ukraine is still far from saturated. Therefore, investments in this line of business, subject to the introduction of the latest combined technologies, can pay off within the first two years.
