Seadora Seafood, the Ukrainian startup

More and more startups are appearing in Ukraine, carrying important social and environmental missions. Today we want to tell you about one of them.

How did a business idea come into being?

As we have written before, often startup ideas are born out of a desire to solve a problem. Andrey Drogobytsky, an entrepreneur, co-founder of LeBoutique and managing partner of SMRK Foundation, found out that annually about 50 million tons of caught fish do not reach consumers. It simply spoils and is thrown in the garbage. This is how the business idea of Seadora Seafood - fresh catch bucking - came into life. That is, the fishers catch exactly as much fish as they have ordered. This allows not only to save money by buying fish and seafood without intermediaries, but also to save the resources of the world ocean.

Searching for investors

The first investments in the startup were made by the founder Andrey Drogobytsky himself. To complete the development, he got investment from the Ukrainian venture fund SMRK.

Andrey studied fishing and logistics features for several years. Usually, the caught fish gets to the buyer after 15 days on average. With the help of Seadora, your order will get to you within 2-3 days. Startup also works with restaurants.

At the moment, you can pre-order seafood and catches from Iceland, Scotland, the Netherlands, Ukraine and other countries, the list of which is growing. The plans are to enter international markets to sell Ukrainian seafood and promote the mission of Zero waste consumption.
