Startup tips for successful launch

Startup tips for successful launch

We prepared this article based on the experience of different startups. Of course, the history of each project is individual. But there are some general rules by which you can start your business.

Product Launch

After you have identified the problem and the demand, conducted an analysis of the market and competitors first and most important advice - run the product! This is the only way to understand if it really meets your customers' needs.

To test your hypothesis, it's better to create a trial version first, a test version without huge investments, and rework it along the way than to wait until you create the "perfect" product. This will allow you to quickly get feedback and keep moving in the right direction, customize the product to the real needs of the client and perhaps even change it dramatically. Worse, if you initially invested a large amount of money and then realized that this is not what the market requires.

Searching for customers

The next step is to focus on finding your customers, you may have to search for them "manually" and sell yourself. For example, the vice president of Tinder, Whitney Wolf, went to her alma mater. There she went to the university women's club and asked the students to download the application, explaining that this is her job, and she needs help. After 20 minutes, she did the same thing at the university men's club. Later Wolf went on a real tour to the universities of the country. The result was +10000 Tinder users.

We advise you to do something that can be done with little expense and does not require scaling. Do not hire a lot of employees and expensive office at once.

Business expansion is sometimes premature and will lead to waste of time and resources.

The founders of Uber business partners Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanik called private drivers and offered to pay for what they will try the service. Customers-passengers were looked for at conferences, offering different "buns": free trips, water, napkins or just a "silent" driver. Clients themselves began to recommend Uber, and it was personal recommendations that helped the company to become successful.

It is important for any company to remember the basic rule - you need to talk to your clients to understand what they want. Does your product close their needs, is it convenient to use, what can be improved. And, of course, to take customer feedback into account.

Scaling up

Scaling is often central to the focus of startups, but not everyone understands when the ideal time for growth comes.

Growth should be the result of the following tasks:

  • Talk and listen to your clients;
  • create the product that consumers want;
  • work fast.

In other words, if you haven't yet created a product that meets the needs of the market, it makes no sense to grow.

Find a business partner

It also happens that a startup fails due to a breakup of co-founders, so it is very important to build a relationship with a co-founder. That is, one of the best ways to make your startup successful is to find a business partner with whom you will have an open and honest communication!
