Scientists have identified a beneficial effect on humans when communicating with animals, as well as the possibility of using the sensory properties (sense of smell) of dogs to diagnose human ailments. To date, many different studies are being conducted to study the effect of animals on humans. K. Allen ( Eng. Karen Allen), the researcher State University of New York at Buffalo , exploring the benefits brought by the animals on human health. K. Allen notes that dogs can help people cope with stress, although until now no one can explain the mechanism by which this happens.
Also S. Barker ( Eng. By Sandra B. Barker) and Catherine Dawson ( Eng. Kathryn S. The Dawson) from the medical faculty at the University of Virginia studied the effect of dog-therapists on anxiety level of hospitalized psychiatric patients, who had a wide range of diagnoses. In the course of the experiment, it turned out that animal-assisted therapy is more effective than traditional psychotherapy . Almost all of the patients showed significant reductions in anxiety levels due to the animals. The exception was made by people with a strong degree of dependence.
