Retail has not yet faced such challenges. After all, globally, the planet Earth has never been quarantined.
But how to keep outlets, ensure sales, retain customers and at least some income? The need to reduce the cost of maintenance, staffing, logistics and other items may lead to the decision to close stores.

Or maybe you should think about changing the format of trade? After all, reality itself dictates which formats are currently relevant and which are not. Redirecting resources to ensure online trade, for the period of quarantine, while maintaining the functioning of retail space and inventories - more than a real option. This format in retail is called Dark Store.

What distinguishes Dark Store from our usual format?
Dark Store - "dark store", "dark supermarket" serves only purchases generated via the Internet in the format of a distribution center. Note that this format is not new. It was created in the United Kingdom, and its popularity quickly spread throughout Europe.

The dark store is closed to the public, but its interior may look like a regular supermarket. There is no staff in the trading hall. The store is located within the city, which reduces the cost of delivery of orders and facilitates self-pickup.

After processing orders received online, they are sent to the Dark Store for assembly. Electronically generated orders are processed and routed according to the layout of the store for optimal configuration. The assembly is done by the store staff around the clock, fulfilling orders that are displayed on special equipment. Often one employee assembles more than one order at a time.
