Project summary

The Badger Way is a young, but promising and ambitious organization that aims to promote the science of survival among children and adolescents in Ukraine, to give them the basic skills of self-service, autonomous existence in the wild and ensuring their own safety in all situations.

The philosophy of the Badger's Way survival school is based on the belief that a person who has a sufficient level of knowledge, skills, physical and psychological fitness is able to achieve any goals: not only in the wild, but also in studies, relationships, and business. We help children become more confident, stronger, more adaptable, more independent, teach them to effectively interact with themselves and the world around them.

There are plans to create a network of school branches with regular classes throughout Ukraine, organize thematic camps (day stays and stationary tent camps), hold rallies, hikes, and festivals. The project is unique, in Ukraine Plast and Scouts are engaged in similar activities, however, the principles and content of the programs of these organizations are very different from those proposed by us.

In the Badger's Path project, children are trained in several areas:

- the basics of survival in the wild (based on the US Air Force flight crew survival programs)

- survival in conditions of man-made, natural disasters and armed conflicts

- human physiology and first aid

- ensuring the safety of oneself and others (elements of civil defense, camouflage, effective self-defense, safe behavior in reality and online, etc.)

- outdoor cooking, bushcraft (making necessary items from improvised means)

- environmental literacy (conservation of natural resources as a necessary element of human survival in the long term)

The program started in June 2019, 4 shifts of 10 days of thematic day camps were held (3 - within the framework of the project, 1 shift - based on the ThinkGlobal school in Irpen), several weekend hikes, birthdays. There are reviews of participants, photo reports, a certain fame and a great desire to develop and scale this project.

The founder of the project, Veronika Kudina, is a senior instructor of the Badger's Way Youth School of Survival and Tourism, a teacher, organizer of the One Team Family Adventure Club, an instructor in mountain tourism and survival, a climber with 20 years of experience.
